A Yelp Ad Review can be very beneficial to your business if you use it the right way.
When you start a fitness business, you need to think of your marketing like your clientele. If you are an independent operator like a Personal Trainer, it takes time to develop.
What I Discovered About Advertising
As an independent, single person, fitness operation I learned a great tip:
It is easier to advertise a gym or place than it is a Person
What I mean by that is that if you look at current big box gym’s or spa’s, they advertise the location with an intodutory offer and when people go they convert them into 1 on 1 clients. This works great for the clients because they can go to one place and have it all…so to speak.
So if you are advertising for yourself, your one on one service, your niche is a smaller and it is a bit harder for the client to find you.
That is why blogging works so well for the independent fitness pro. You can establish trust in your niche and it helps people find you through your engagement online.
How To Use Your Yelp Ad Review
When you start your fitness business you can set up a Free Yelp Business listing. That should be one of the first things you do!
Beware, DO NOT PAY FOR ANY ADDITIONAL ADVERTISING!
As I mentioned before, yelp is great for restaurant reviews and works well with big box gyms because they have big budgets and are selling location and services.
I used my Yelp Ad Review as a great business listing for my one on one Personal Training business and offered promotions to my clients for them to add my testimonials to Yelp.
It worked awesome! Over a few months I had all 5 Star reviews and was listed in the top 10 of local gyms and studios in my area. Not to mention other sites pulled info from my Yelp Ad Review to list on their site. It was much more effective than the testimonials that I have listed on my own personal fitness business website. I also get most of my traffic for my business website from Yelp.
It’s a Win Win!
Should I Pay For Local Advertising
The reason advertising sounds attractive is because you don’t have to be the one hitting the streets! My days are busy and my down time is valuable! It usually looks like this:
- Start at 6 am and train through the morning
- Have a few breaks and train through the evening till about 8 pm
- Rinse and Repeat 5 days a week
Given that schedule, I burn a lot of calories and have minimal energy left to be handing out flyers during my down time.
So, hiring someone else for advertising sounds great because it takes pressure off you, but you will spend a lot of money to be effective through this method.
Getting belly to belly with the local community is the best way to promote YOU and your services. Also, having a few Doctor’s referring business your way helps too!
Yelp can help you when you start a fitness business! Here is what worked for me:
- Put time an effort into a great Yelp Ad Review of your business
- Put your listing on all of the free business listing sites like Yelp or Yellow Pages
- Say no to the additional advertising when they call you
- Get out and meet the community and build some referral networks
- Get your clients to refer their friends and associates
Keep in mind, your business won’t grow to a megaplex overnight! It takes time, but if you love what you do, you will enjoy the ride.
