What supplements should I take to lose belly fat without breaking the bank?
When it comes to supplements, there seems to be something for everything…
- ProteinCarbs Load
- Energy boost
- Fat Loss
and so on…
There is soo much out there, it can get confusing!
Here’s the great news…
If you are trying to get fit and lose belly fat you only needed a few key ingredients!
What Supplements Should I Take To Lose Belly Fat? – Take what the body needs!
If you are serious about losing your unwanted belly, it starts in the kitchen. However, just starting in the kitchen is very hard to do! As you know I am a firm believer in the fact that if you are exercising, then your body will crave what it needs.
And in my experience that is absolutely true…however, you body needs protein to support your exercise activity. Now that sounds kind of like a double edge sword, right?
Exercise and you will crave what you need, but give your body food for exercise?! Absolutely! But what I am really telling you is that if you exercise your body will crave what it needs and that need is whole grain food, not McDonald’s!
And, protein will support your exercise. If you are getting the right amount of protein in your diet, then you will not need to add supplements.
However, supplements are just what they sound like…they supplement your diet when you can not get what you need with food. Plus, sometimes a protein shake is easier to drink and tastier than another feeding of chicken or eggs.
Once I asked an owner of a supplement store what supplements should I take to lose belly fat, and his answer was amazing! He told me what I had known for years!
He said all you really need was a good multivitamin, a protein shake you like, and maybe some fish oil. And that was it! Holy Sh!t! Even the guy who gets paid to sell all sorts of supplements will agree.
Although that was a sidebar conversation, if I went into his store, his clerk may try to sell me on pre, during, and post workout shakes plus a rainbow of dietary pills that my body won’t even process.
What Supplements Should I Take To Lose Belly Fat? – Here are my fav’s
When it comes to taking protein you should look for a label like this…
- 20-25 grams of Protein per serving
- 120-140 calories
- 10 or less grams of carbs
- low in cholesterol
- low in sugar
Stay away from protein bars if you can on a regular basis. They are packed with sugar and preservatives that if unused, will turn into fat.
A lot of times you can find these on sale but usually I find that the sale items are crappy tasting and discounted for a reason! If you want a good protein shake, find one you like and then mix up the flavors as you like.
Last year I found my favorite whey protein shake and since have not switched brands!
A good multi will go a long way! It gives you the extra vitamins and minerals you lack in your diet. Plus, I’m sure your doctor has told you to get one last time you were in his office.
I have been told to get fish oil from my General Doctor and my Optometerist. And unless you are eating fish more than a few times a week, its a good idea to mix in a fish oil supplement to your daily routine.
If you have post exercise muscle soreness (PEMS) from exercise glutemine will help support your recovery. You can also get some antioxidants from berries (blue, straw, and rasp).
Once your birthday cake starts looking like a fire hazzard you may want to consider some joint support. When you take glucosamine you for joint health you will only notice it when you don’t take it. When you feel the creaks and cracks, get back on the glucosamine. You can get it in either powder (best bang for the buck) or pill.
And that’s it! But don’t forget to drink a ton of water. Water is good, and if you aren’t feeling right, most likely you are dehydrated. Drink at least a gallon a day.
