The MS 150 Fort Collins was challenging, had great terrain, and awesome scenic views!
Saturday was my first MS 150 ride in over twenty years and I am happy to say I survived! The MS 150 Fort Collins Loop is a great option for beginners, or those looking for a great ride that isn’t a two day affair.
The two options of a 27 or 50 mile bike ride were perfect! The first half of the ride had some great scenery, elevation, and a ton of teams riding for a cause.
By the second rest stop, the pack started to split up from the leisure riders to those looking for a bit more of a distance challenge. You really notice the difference when you change from riding with a few groups to being the solo rider for miles and wondering if you missed a turn somewhere.
The MS Fort Collins Loop covered 50 miles of great Colorado scenery from the Colorado State University campus to Horsetooth Reservoir, east through rural communities, and a final round up where you started on campus.
The MS 150 Fort Collins Loop
I am excited to say that this ride had greater results than the Elephant Rock! No, gashes this time, but the Cramps came back! Mostly due to the heat and dehydration, but nothing a little stretching and H20 didn’t’ fix.
For a short little ride, the MS 150 Fort Collins Loop covered a lot of terrain. There were not any major inclines in the ride, but with the hot temperatures it was definitely a challenge in other ways. Personally, I liked the ride for the tour of the Fort Collins, CSU, and the surrounding scenic area.
My MS 150 Fort Collins Ride Results
I just want to thank everyone for all of the donations I received for Bike MS! Although my training was not up to par from other rides, I managed to survive and make good time. I completed the ride in just over 3 hours not including rest stops.
Personally I was pretty happy with that considering minimal training time due to our recent late afternoon Colorado monsoon weather. During one of the downhills I managed to derail my chain and some how get it back on without getting off my bike.
And that was a first!
I am actually pretty good at knocking off the chain which makes me feel like I don’t really know how to switch gears.
Oh well, water under the bridge! I completed the ride with only a few set backs and no major injuries.
Refueling And Recharging!
After a long ride or extreme workout, it is very important to get your B vitamins! My favorite way to recharge is with a Colorado Craft Beer. Wouldn’t you agree? And Fort Collins is one of the best places for fresh from the brewery taste.
The MS 150 Fort Collins Loop is now on my favorite list. It is a great ride for beginners all the way up to experienced riders. Bike MS for the views and know that you are supporting a great cause. Since Colorado has a high population of those suffering from MS, Bike MS Colorado is great way to offer your support.
I not only hit my goals on the bike, I also exceeded my donation goals. Thank you for all of your support, whether it was with a donation or words of encouragement. The MS 150 Fort Collins Loop was a great ride and I look forward to tackling the challenge again next year!
