What are the best diets for men for weight loss?
When it comes to guys, we can be either very stubborn or think we know everything. Some part of that is ego, but it can also be that natural instinct to do first then understand (or read the directions).
Since becoming a trainer, I have done every diet I ever heard about to see the effects on my mind and body, and more importantly to see the draw to the diet itself.
I have tried:
- South Beach
You name it, I have done it. And what I can tell you from my experience is that if you put them all together, you probably have the best diet around…Moderation.
But still want to know the best diets for men for weight loss. You have heard that as we get older our metabolism slows down and we start to gain weight.
Well, that is true and it began for me at the old age of 24. Yep, it didn’t take long for my eating and drinking habits to start affecting my health and waist line.
Fast forward 15 years and I have found the Pandora’s box to the best diets for men for weight loss!
Here is my warning label – You have to work at it and sweat is involved!
Here Are My 5 Simple Tips Of The Best Diets For Men For Weight Loss
I say cut out your excess because your excess may be different than my excess.
There was one time in my life that I needed to make a drastic change and I cut out cheese! Cheese was my excess and cutting it out led to a 40 pound weight loss!
Why did one thing make such a big difference? Well, cheese is not only a food that makes other food awesome, it’s foods lazy and convenient brother in law.
Are you getting home late, tired, and hungry? Call Domino’s, they will be here with a pie in 30 minutes!
Done…but how many times can you do that in a week? I mean you can throw down a couple of slices and a beer like its nothing.
And that can be up to 1600 calories, which for some people, is their entire daily caloric need.
So, cut out the cheese and watch the LB’s melt away!
#2 – Cut back on the brewskis!
Beer is awesome, but when you keep up the frat party after college it will hang around your waist like an unwanted hangnail.
Having a few a day to relax and unwind is one thing, but a 12er a night or tasters of your favorite mircobrews may be a step too far. Keep in mind, you need to be working out to have those post workout beer treats!
Find a balance of drinking beer and still losing weight!
#3 Eat meat like it’s your job!
Besides the fact that we are not built to sit in cubes all day, that activity also won’t burn all the carbs you are ingesting either!
Find out how much protein you really need and get on a regimen of eating lean meats like chicken or turkey. And not just for lunch, get good portions of it all day long.
#4 Greens are good!
To really get a good sense of balance, adding greens to your diet will help you lose some pesky pounds around the waist. I’m not saying that you now need to be the salad guy, just throw some green beans in with your chicken and call it a day.
And what are the best greens? Personally I love broccoli, but I can’t eat it all the time because of the side effects.
I have found green beans and peas produce the least amount of bloating or post consumption gas.
Remember, you may want to be healthy, but you don’t want to be the smelly guy at the office either!
If you still can’t get enough greens, try throwing them in a blender with some fruit and making a shake out of it!
#5 All things in Moderation, including Moderation itself!
Instead of going to one diet, be aware of what you are doing, and take each bit in stride without hesitation. If you want to taste that chocolate cake in the break room, take a bite…just don’t eat a whole piece.
A good diet of whole grain food, lean meats, and healthy fats will do you good. If you can cook a couple days at a time and take it with you to work, you will not only help the weight loss process but save a ton of money in the process.
Now its time for your golden token for the day….
Workout first! If you are getting in a good workout each day, your body will crave the food you need to fuel your workouts. And those cravings won’t be Ben & Jerry’s or Lay’s Potato Chips, it will be lean meats and healthy fats!
