Is a Personal Training career outlook a bright and shiny star, or does it mirror a drama filled horror flick? The funny thing is, the fitness business has many faces.
- Fitness Fanatics
- Extreme Athletes
- Highly Educated Trainers
- And Many Gurus
But mostly, there are a lot of regular Joe’s and Jane’s trying to make a difference in the world one pound at a time. And that was me! When I started training part-time, on the side of my corporate career, I found a passion I couldn’t escape.
My goal was simple…I wanted to help people lose weight and change their life, just as I had done in my own personal journey.
That’s it, nothing more! However, what I found was an industry filled with a mixed reputation like the good, bad, and ugly. And I found myself fighting to educate people on how I was ‘the good trainer’ and that I was worthy of their trust.
Personal Training, A Career With Options!
The good news about the fitness industry is that the Personal Training Career Outlook is very promising! Once you get certified, the sky is the limit!

In fact, I read recently that Personal Training was listed as one of the top work from home jobs! If you have a passion for fitness and helping people, Personal Training can be more than a job you do on the side it can be the career you always wanted!
Personal Trainer Extraordinaire
When I became a Personal Trainer, I wanted to be just that…A Personal Trainer! Nothing more. After a career in the corporate world I felt stuck and was bored. I started working part time as a Personal Trainer, until something amazing happened…I was really good at it!
My first month, I trained clients in a weight loss challenge and won two of three categories. I told my wife that the only reason I didn’t win the third was because I didn’t have anyone in that category! Ha…
I felt like I had arrived! In one month I felt fantastic and I wanted to grow as a trainer and be full-time. And it happened!
Here is my journey…
- Train Part Time
- Get laid off of full time job
- Get hired as a Personal Trainer at the big gym
- Work hard building a clientele for 9 months
- Start my own fitness business
- Have a full book of business in 2 years
- Become a Full Time Trainer and pass my corporate salary in 15 months
- Become a full time Personal Trainer, and Fitness Consultant in year 3
And my career is only getting started!
As you can see once you get started, your personal trainer career outlook with take you on a journey you never expected.
