My personal trainer business ideas saved my business and doubled my profits!
This year has definitely been one for the books! I started off the year like gangbusters and totally pumped for all the new business that was waiting for me. I had all the new year’s specials in play ready to take charge and explode my business.
And that was fantastic right up until March when people started to fall off or go on vacation. That is when I really started doing some research on and find some personal trainer business ideas to run my business differently and more efficiently.
That is when I stumbled upon the concept of memberships for my small business. Could it work? I mean I have a membership for my car wash, could it actually work for my fitness business. I like the concept, and it is convenient for me and the car wash, but I am not booking time at the car wash. So in that sense it is a little different.
So I started doing the math to see if I could get ahead. And BAM, it totally makes sense!
I managed to find a way to have:
- Monthly Memberships
- Level Upgrades
- A Program for Everyone
And when I did the math, it all made sense. But, will that hold true when I put it to use?
The truth is in the Numbers!
After a few months of converting my client list to a membership profile, a few things happened:
- I saved my clients money
- I secured a steady cash flow
- I cut my paperwork in half
How did all this happen? Simple, I switched my business from a per session program to a monthly program. Using this system helped my get the details simplified, and I found that my clients really liked the new plan.
The old way
Charging per session, tracking the sessions, and monitoring cancellations
The new way
Charging per month, scheduling around conflicts (sickness and travel), and letting my software track sessions and payments
By putting my business on autopilot, I only have to worry about delivering results and not about administrative tasks or session tracking. My clients are on a month-to-month plan and don’t feel locked in to anything!
Now I am able to spend more time working on marketing and getting new clients. And with that, I am getting new business while my old business rocks like a well oiled machine.
What the Numbers Say?
When I initially ran the numbers, I figured I was losing money every month and scraping by. On this new membership plan, I have more consistent income by charging my clients less!
My sales are up over 30% from the beginning of the year and it is continuing to grow everyday.
My Key Takeaway
If you are looking to grow your business you don’t always have to consider new clients. Look at your current profile and see if there are some tweaks you can do to offer benefits to you and your clients.
Although I did this with my personal training business, the concept will hold true over different professions.
Consider it for other services like:
- Personal Training
- Maid Services
The sky is the limit! Try to think outside the box and be like a Marketing Mad Scientist. Just because things have run certain ways in your industry for a long time, doesn’t mean they are the best. With new technology like Mind-Body client management software I was able to put this system in place.
And if you don’t want to use Mind-Body, try something like Chase Payment Tech to operate your auto debits. I found them when I opened my Chase Business Account.
