Fitbit Activity Tracker Review – Rating 9/10 Stars
I can honestly tell you that when I got my fitbit, I was one of the few walking around with this weird silicone thing on my wrist. And before my fitbit I used several pedometers or step counters that I got on the Walmart sale rack. Although those cheap counters were great, they usually only lasted a week or so and would get washed or smashed to a million pieces.
So why would you even need a step counter or activity tracker anyway? First of all lets look at your daily activities…
- Get out of your seat or away from your cube often
- Go on daily walks with your coworkers
- Get out of the office before the 5:00 whistle blows
You see the main reason to have an activity tracker is Accountability! Before I was a personal trainer, I really struggled at my desk job to get away from my desk.
The biggest thing that would help me was to drink a ton of water. Then my main step count would come going to the bathroom a hundred times a day.
Until people would ask me if I was OK or if I was borrowing my grandpa’s bladder.
Will an activity tracker help me lose weight?
A big part of losing weight comes down to movement and creating a habit of consistent movement. And, since so many of us sit at a desk all day, having something to help us stay on track with healthy habits is a good thing.
When I started Personal Training, I was working with a couple that both had important engineering jobs. They were good at what they did, but their non-movement during the day was adding to their waistline expansion project.
I put them on an activity tracker and gave them a goal of 10k steps a day! That was just one part of my training program that would help them get away from their desk and start moving.
Their results blew me away!!! Together they lost 73 pounds in a 6 week weight loss challenge. Holy crap, I could’t believe it.
Did the Fitbit help with their transition? The Fitbit, their exercise program, and healthy habits led to their extreme weight loss. (Here is where I tell you that your results may not equal their results)
Instead of getting 10k steps a day, they were shooting for 17k steps each and were competing to see who could get the most.
And the fitbit doesn’t lie!
A Fitbit activity tracker will help you hold yourself accountable and if you stick to your daily goals you will see great results.
Which Fitbit Activity Tracker should I get?
When it comes to getting a Fitbit Activity Tracker, it really depends on what you like. The first one I ever purchased was the Fitbit Flex. It is a wrist tracker that monitors steps, distance, and calories burned.
I prefer to have one on my wrist, but if you want an iPhone Watch without the price tag, the Surge will do everything you need and more.
My Fitbit Activity Tracker Review: The Breakdown
Surge – Tracks GPS, continuous heart rate, all day activity and stats, smart notifications, music control…this one can even get text messages. It has a look and feel like a watch and your smart phone combined.
Charge– Tracks continuous heart rate, all day activity stats and sleep. Includes caller ID, has a small face display for time and activity.
Flex – Tracks steps, distance, calories burned, and sleep. No face display, but does fit on your wrist.
One – This one is like the flex but is a fob that attaches to your clothes. (You may find this one left on your clothes in the wash)
Zip – This is your base model that really only tracks steps, distance, and calories burned. This one is also a fob and looks like it can get lost easily.
The Zip starts out at $59 and you can get all the bells and whistle of the surge for $249. I started with the Flex for $99 because it is great for what I needed, but I won’t lie I kinda want the Surge!!

Whichever one you choose, you will not be dissappointed! Fitbit products stand the test of time, keep you honest and accountable for getting off your butt!!
The Fitbit is a great tool to hold you accountable and keep you moving for your Exercise and Diet programs.
