Don’t give up until the New Year, learn how to lose weight after thanksgiving!
In my house thanksgiving is quite the week. I have family in town and it seems like for this one week, my refrigerator needs to go on a diet!
And let me be clear, I am truly thankful for my family, a fridge full of awesome homemade goodness, and the time I get to share with everyone. But, after a few days I feel like my mouth needs an off button for pie and turduckens.
Thanksgiving itself is not the problem. After all, if you have been watching what you eat all year and staying on track, then absolutely take a meal with your family and let your taste buds go wild. One meal won’t kill you and that one meal is what you have been working hard for all year long!
When I was in High School I was on the wrestling team. And no I was not an all American, but I was a varsity wrestler in my weight class. And the biggest thing I hated was that the season was just getting started around Thanksgiving. So I would sit there and not eat all of this awesome food I was so thankful to have. Who does that? It was the one single thing I hated about my stint in high school athletics.
Since then I have always taken a running start to my Thanksgiving meal. I enjoy the time with my family and eat like its my job. But, when the meal is over that’s it…pull the emergency brake on seconds and take it easy on the beers.
If you want to know how to lose weight after thanksgiving, treat yourself during the meal but hold back on the 2nds, 3rds, and 4ths.
After my family is gone, the fridge is still packed full of food, but I am very careful on how I eat and what. Most of the food that is served during this time is comfort food full of unnecessary calories, carbs, and sugar. And they taste awesome!!
