Learn how to get motivated to change your lifestyle and still splurge!
Last time I had a Krispy Kreme doughnut I felt like one of those commercials where it takes you to the mountain top and you have an out of body sensory experience. Seriously, biting into that warm and chewy sugar sensation was like floating on air.
And as I was coming down from the sky, I realized I was at work and had to ascend back to my cubicle and get productive. And the productivity shot up for the next 15 minutes. I had a sugar rush and my senses were pushing me harder.
How can you not get motivated from doughnuts and that warm sensation you get from popping a few in your mouth at the A.M. water cooler? Whether you are eating doughnuts or other sweet snacks our senses get excited for that awesome feeling of taste and energy rush.
However, the problem is that too much of the sweet side of life and next thing you know you will be walking around with an extra 20 lbs and that sugar rush becomes a sugar slump.
It’s all to soon enough you will be wondering how to get motivated to change your lifestyle, dump the doughnuts, and get in shape.
I do have good news for you…you don’t have to dump the doughnut’s to get in shape!
Hard Work Deserves A Reward
When I had that Krsipy Kreme at the office I thought, “I’ve been working out, I can have a chewy glazed morsel of awesome!” And that’s what I did, I had that awesome doughnut as a reward from workout out.
And along with that, I got a reward for the doughnut…30 minutes in the bathroom!
You see, if you are out of shape and not exercising, doughnuts and other sweets are your safe-house to feeling good. But when you start a workout program, you start eating healthier to fuel your lifestyle.
But, when you do that you still have the mental connection to past life food like doughnuts that gave you security. And that is what happened to me…and to this day (5 years later) I have not had a Krispy Kreme because of what it did to my innards.
Now I have a connection with food that makes me feel good (like making awesome smoothies)!
Figuring out how to get motivated to change your lifestyle is not all about the food it is about taking action. When people ask me how to get in shape I always tell them that it is not as hard or up hill of a battle as they think.
The first step is to add an exercise program to your life, and then your unhealthy habits will just drop off without even noticing.
How to Get Motivated to Change Your Lifestyle!
Getting motivated to change your lifestyle first takes a reason. It may be for your or your family, looking better at the beach, doing what your doctor says, or to just feel better.
Whatever it is, write it down and take action toward it. Don’t take things away from your life at first, add something to it.
What does that mean?
Don’t go on a diet or take away your favorite foods yet. Start working out at least 30 minutes a day, and watch the rest fall into place.
Is that really all you have to do? Think of learning how to get motivated to change your lifestyle like a college course. When you get your syllabus at the beginning of each semester you get an overview of the course. You don’t start off with the final and testing on all of the info you study in the semester, right?
But that is what people do when it comes to weight loss. They try to make all of the changes in the beginning which ultimately leads to failure.
