Its that time of year again when we are looking for some healthy summer diet tips that don’t ruin the fun! Since January a lot of us have been working hard to shed that winter weight and be summer (ish) ready for some possible pool appearances.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day and the 4th of July in between, we will be BBQing and celebrating with family and friends. However, we don’t want to ruin all the hard work we have been doing all year.
So, here are a few healthy summer diet tips to help you stay on track with your fitness goals without being a buzz kill at the party.
3 Healthy Summer Diet Tips
1 Drink a Ton of Water
When you show up to the party grab a water before you run to the beer cooler or water slide. Staying hydrated will make for a better day and you will drink less of any high calorie sugary drinks. Although Coors Light is about as close of substance you can get to water, still go for a Dasani before you support Miller Coors!
Tip: Double fist with water in one hand!
2 Easy On the Sugar
I love Margaritas and Daiquiris as much as the next person, especially by the poolside. However, those are very high calorie drinks and you may spend the next month working it off on the Treadmill. Also, lots of sugar means more hangover.
Tip: Have one and then move on to lighter calorie drinks like Vodka and Soda.
3 Eat Before You Go
Showing up to a BBQ on an empty stomach is like going to CostCo hungry. You will eat more than you need and feel like a balloon when you head home.
If you go to a BBQ hungry you will be hovering over the grill like a vulture in the desert.
Tip: Don’t be that guy, eat first or grab a Cliffbar on the way out the door
Have A Safe Summer
Having a cheat day on your diet is always a key to a healthy eating. However, don’t turn your cheat day into a cheat week, or cheat month. Once the ball starts rolling, it may be hard to stop it.
Keep these healthy summer diet tips in mind when you are letting your hair back and having fun with your friends and family!
