When I started my personal training business I came from the corporate world and thought I needed a fitness newsletter to send to my clients. I thought that it was a necessary marketing tool to retain my clients and get new business through referrals.
The truth is, that a Personal Training business is just that…Personal! So if you are running a business based on 15 to 50 clients, then a fitness newsletter is great, but it won’t make or break your business. The downside is that there are not too many fitness newsletter services out there that are straight out of the box that don’t cost an arm and a leg.
However, there is one that touts itself as the best in the business. And that is the Fitpro Newsletter. Here you will find my honest Fitpro newsletter reviews and what I found to be the best pros and cons for my small business.
Fitpro Newsletter Reviews: What will it do for me?
The Fitpro Newsletter is a fitness newsletter that goes out to your clients and can be personalized as if it comes from you. It can be set up to go directly to your clients inbox from once a week to once a month. Depending on how much communication you want to have with your clients.
The newsletter itself comes with a:
- Fitness article
- Nutrition Tip or recipe
- Advice from the Trainer (you)
The biggest benefit of this newsletter is that it is an automatic communication to your clients. Once you turn it on you don’t have to think about it. And if you want to run a successful small business, you need automation in a few parts of your business. And marketing is one of them!
My Experience With The Fitpro Newsletter
The day I started the Fitpro newsletter, I was totally pumped! Almost like the feeling you get after leg day, but not quite. I was excited because I knew I needed some marketing in place, and this was simple to set up and easy to use.
And within the first week I had a great response from people and even some people came in for some free sessions. I thought, perfect, this thing will be well worth the investment.
The people that came in I already knew and would have come in with a simple Facebook post about my new Personal Training business! Anyhow, I got response and people were talking about the newsletter.
As the months went on the newsletter became more of a talking point rather than a referral generator. The Problem? The content didn’t sound like it came from me, and my clients were all pointing out the typos and grammar errors. Not something you want from a premium service!

From my experience the Fitpro Newsletter has some great benefits, but also some things I paid for but didn’t really use. It was kind of like buying a fully loaded 4×4 off terrain vehicle when you live in Florida. Yeah, you might go on a road trip and need the extra features but is it worth the premium price?

- In depth fitness articles, recipes, and suggestions to refer new clients
- An automatic marketing tool
- Free ebooks to use as marketing materials
- Price, Price, Price – $70 per month!
- If you don’t know how to use the ebooks, they can be useless
- It is personalized with your picture, but the content is hit and miss
- There are a lot of grammar and typos in the content
- Hard to get a return on investment for a small personal training or bootcamp businesses
- Did I mention the Price?!
Fitpro Newsletter Reviews: Overall Rating
The Fitpro Newsletter is a good concept, but I have found a much better fitness newsletter for a fraction of the cost. Personally, I found myself working on the appearance more than I needed to for an ‘out of the box’ service.
Between that and the negative feedback I received from my clients, I decided to scrap the Fitpro Newsletter.
2 Great Alternatives To The Fitpro Newsletter
After I decided to quit the Fitpro Newsletter, I was on a mission to find a better more cost effective way. I found that my clients were all needing a little nutrition advice, and some helpful motivation. And it also helped to give credit to those making awesome transformations.
So, I put together my own newsletter. Nothing fancy, just a simple communication once a month that takes about 15 minutes for me to write. It comes from me, sounds like me, and not advice I wouldn’t give. It is a perfect way to personalize your own fitness newsletter.
Here are the best 2 options:
Mailchimp – This is a Free email marketing service that you can set up and comes from you! No monthly fee unless you upgrade and is perfect for a small personal training business.
GetResponse – A great premium service that only costs $15 a month. That’s $55 less than the Fitpro newsletter! And from my experience, the best email marketing service on the market.
GetResponse is easy to use, comes with a video library on how to get set up and expand your email marketing and so much more! If you have a website and need opt in forms, use GetRespone (not included on the Free Mail Chimp account).
I have used several email marketing services and I have found that GetResponse is the best. If you are just getting started you may want to look into MailChimp because it is a Free service.
Either option is great, but if you decided to set up a website GetResponse has simple signup forms that are easy to use. For me the Fitpro Newsletter was a good introduction on how to get simple marketing implemented on autopilot to my fitness business. However, at the sheer cost I found these other simple options that are easier on the pocket book.
