The holidays are one of my favorite times a year. It is a time to spend with family, friends, and also a time to reflect on all the wonderful fortunes of the year.
This has been an absolutely fantastic year and I have seen so many make positive changes in their lives when it comes to health, strength, and making positive changes. And this has all come through dedication and perseverance in overcoming all of the obstacles in our life.
With all that in mind, during the holidays I really wanted to give back this year. I consider all of my clients part of my family and if I was going to give back I wanted to do it in everyone’s name. So all of your hard work and sweat not only benefitted you, but also those in need.
Choosing the Right Colorado Charity
Several clients of my fitness family dedicate time and have a passion to support some of our awesome Colorado Charities. Judy Bucher helped inspire this donation to support Colorado Gives Day 2015 to a local charity that would really appreciate our donation.
After Thanksgiving I sent out an email to vote for your favorite charity to make our donation:
I thought these would be awesome choices since everyone has some sort of connection to these charities. What I didn’t expect was the overwhelming passion for the charities that some of you support.
Here are just a few of the stories from the Get Fit 303 family…
Judy Bucher lost her daughter, Darby Bucher, to Ovarian Cancer and is a big supporter of the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance. Each year she and a very large group of passionate supporters walk in Jodi’s Race for Awareness. I participated in this event this year and if you want to join in 2016 please let me know. It is a fantastic event and cause!
Katie Symons (a Get Fit 303 Client) knew Darby Bucher who lost her battle when she was in her 40’s. But Katie also had more stories to tell me….
I just lost my good friend and mentor from DU, Sheila Wright a few weeks ago. Sheila was 74 and had battled her cancer for almost 5 years. When I was talking to one of Sheila’s friends – a survivor who had been in Nikki’s Circle with her – she told me that Sheila is the 66th person she has now seen lose her life to ovarian cancer. Even one death to this disease is one too many.
I am so appreciative of the efforts of COCA for all they are doing to support those currently battling ovarian cancer and those who have survived it. It is a crucial organization with an incredible mission.
And if you haven’t seen the viral video of the young girl battling Ovarian Cancer, watch it now!
With all of this in mind, I decided to donate a Christmas Gift to the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance ( in the name of Darby Bucher, Judy’s Daughter) in the name of Get Fit 303 and all of my clients.
This has not only been special to me to be able to support a client from my fitness family, but also to donate to a very important and powerful local charity.
Get Fit 303 Gives Back!
Thank you for all of your support, and hard work this year! I look forward to working with everyone in 2016 and reaching your goals. And thank you being part of the Colorado Gives Day 2015 and supporting the community.
