How Can exercise improve health for you? I’m sure if you have been going to the doctor for a long time and I am sure he has been telling you that diet and exercise do the body good. But, is he really telling the truth or is this diet and exercise thing all a myth.
Hearing this from the medical field, to me, is always entertaining. So many times I hear this and so many times it comes from Doctors who they themselves are overweight and out of shape. So maybe at that point you think it is all hypocritical.
I would agree! Especially if I was going to see a Doctor that was unhealthy or appeared to be unhealthy on the outside.
First of all:
What I have learned in the fitness business is that you don’t know everyone’s story.
One of my happiest clients is someone who has been working in a hospital for over 20 years. In that 20 years she grew to be about 60 pounds overweight. In that time she had three kids, all while working in a profession that tells you diet and exercise is the key to living healhty.
Well I am here to tell you, based on her expereince and weight loss that the answer to the question is YES!
In one year’s time, she lost 60 pounds and now is living healthy, eating healthy food, and exercising regularly. Notice I didn’t say dieting? Yes she is eating healthy, exercising, and enjoying her new found healthy lifestyle.
And now all she talks about is how this ‘diet and exercise’ thing they always talk about, really does work! So much so, that when people ask her what she is doing, they expect that magic pill answer. Nope. She says that they seem discouraged when she answers with, “you know, eating right and exercising!”
Can exercise improve health….Absolutely!
How Can Exercise Improve Health For Me?
If that is the question, then most likely you are not exercising! And to start out all you need is a little motivation like:
- A wedding
- A beach vacation
- A Doctor’s visit

Is flying a plane comfortable? Not for me or for a pilot on his or her first day. But with time, you will soon be a pro just like a professional pilot.
Try These 3 Steps To Get You Started
- Take a walk everyday and go a little further each day.
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator
- Start a Workout Program in your living room
- Get your body moving!
For me, when I decided that it was time for me to start exercising I started on the treadmill. I went for as long as I could and then would stop.
The First time, I made it a full 6 whole minutes!
Now, that is not burning a ton of calories, but it was the beginning to progress. Now I can go on there for 40-50 minutes without the pain of just getting on.
How Can Exercise Improve Health
In conclusion, your body is like you vehicle. It needs to be recharged and the proper fuel to keep it on the road. My client started losing weight and eating healthy after she was 60 years old.
You don’t have to wait that long, but if you do there is greatness waiting for you at the end of the tunnel.
