Finding great fitness advertising ideas that work is not as hard as you probably imagine. The hard part can be digging through all the social media sites and time wasters that don’t work.
If you are a one man show then you really need to find a way to:
- Reach your audience
- Spend as little time as possible creating your copy
- Get people wanting what you have to offer
It really is as simple as that, but with as much information online as there is today, consumers are educated, shoppers, and want the best value. So where do you go to position yourself to find the people you want?
Let’s check out a few of your options.
Fitness Advertising Ideas: Debunking Social Media
When I started my personal training business, I put up my Facebook business page and thought, let the bookings begin! Pffff, NO!
The only good part about that equation was that it only took 5 minutes to get my page up. The bad part is that Social Media is just that…Social!
People want info, input, conversation, and feedback! It really is like being in an online Starbucks. And in a coffee shop, people meet to hang out and catch up. And if they like what you have to say, you might get a second meeting with them.
And that is how to use your social media platforms. Engage your audience, become relevant, and invite them to come to your house (or business).
I will say that I have tried to get clients on Craigslist and after many attempts I felt like Mantei Teo. I was getting creepy calls and email from the Personal Trainer Scam.
So needless to say I stopped immediately
I’m not saying you can’t be successful on Craigslist, just watch your back, qualify your leads, and never give out your personal information or CCD numbers.
In the last 6 months I have sold over 10k in training from my small Free Yelp Ad! The ROI on that is fantastic and by far is the best free method out there. The key to success on Yelp is to be thorough on your business description and have as many client testimonials as possible
That and a bunch of Yelp activity like check ins and tips, will jump your listing to the top of the yelp search.
But don’t get discouraged, it took me over a year to get my first referral, then I got a bunch in one month. So be patient!

This is one of my favorite fitness advertising ideas that is very much a ninja method. It does cost a little scratch but is well worth the time. I once read that when you get 1000 true followers your Facebook page really starts to gain momentum.
For example when you post info on your FB page it may only reach a small percentage of followers. So would you like that to be 7% of 130 followers or 7 % of 1000?
This method does take some cash to get going the easy way, all you have to do is hit the promote button on the side. Then just set your budget, age group, zip codes and off you go!
Once you get going here you will start to build your audience. And when you offer a promotion or sale for your services, just add it as a post. Then hit the boost post button and BOOM…your deal of the day is now for all to see.
Now your Facebook campaign is hitting the audience you need at the right time and with minimal effort. All you had to do is create a few posts in 10 minutes and now your digital campaign is off to the races!
Use these fitness advertising ideas to boost your business and get prospects knocking down your door!
